This garden won Best in Category in the 2022 APL national awards, beautifully built by Bowood Landscapes and designed by Caroline E. Butler Garden Design. This garden is doubly amazing because it was built and planted through the first lockdown, despite all the difficulties and challenges that that bought.
This contemporary garden features a bold pond, where stepping stones cross it to link with other routes through the space. The lawn was removed, which gave the opportunity for a bold patchwork of planting, including tender Canna lilies and Dahlia to contrast with the textural grasses and perennials. Another axis of the garden is highlighted by a series of strong architectural arches, which lead through to a concealed quiet space in the centre of the garden surrounded by tall grasses – apparently this is the clients favourite space!
