A beautiful location needed a thoughtful design, so that it would not compete with the landscape. Wild flower turf was used on the entrance bank which is also lower maintenance and beneficial to insects.
The hard landscaping used a soft grey palette that tied in with the flint house walls. A path gently meandered down to a gravel circle, where we grouped ‘Sarson’ stones that had been found on site. Planting mimicked the hazy mauves and greys of the distant hills, as well as offering nectar and seeds to birds and insects. Others large stones were positioned on the edges of borders, overlapping with harden landscaping to soften edges and to create special little ‘caves’ for shade loving plants and the odd frog!
